Bosniaca Bibliographic Database
This project, undertaken by OCLC Inc. (Dublin, Ohio), in cooperation with Yale University Library, Harvard University Library, the University of Michigan Library, and other academic and research libraries, is aimed at reconstituting a bibliography of Bosniaca (items published in Bosnia or about Bosnia), lost when the National and University Library and other libraries in Bosnia-Herzegovina were destroyed along with their catalogues. Compiling on-line catalogue records from participating libraries, the project is the first step in reconstructing a national collection and in locating foreign library holdings of publications that are no longer extant in Bosnian collections. Bosnian Manuscript Ingathering Project
Collects information on the current whereabouts of copies (microfilms, photographs, photocopies, etc.) reproducing rare or unique books and documents, as well as other monuments of Bosnia's cultural heritage (architecture, works of art), the originals of which have been destroyed since 1991. The resulting database will serve as a tool for the rebuilding of libraries and archival collections, and for the reconstruction of ravaged historical buildings. The Bosnian Virtual Library Project
A cooperative effort with Harvard and Yale Universities in which OCLC is providing the bibliographic data from WorldCat (the OCLC Online Union Catalog), and OCLC's Office of Research is providing the expertise to automatically select Bosniaca (all documents, in any format or language, published in or concerning the territory of Bosnia-Herzegovina). The project will yield a virtual catalog for the Bosnian National Library, which lost its building, collection, and catalog in the 1992-95 war. Libraries from around the world will be encouraged to supply copies of the actual material to the National and University Library of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
