Welcome and Introduction

MR. KENNEY: Ladies and gentlemen, good morning and thank you very much for coming this morning. I am sure you will all be as moved to see these early slide presentations as I was almost a year ago in North Carolina.

The subject of architectural destruction and what that means for Bosnian culture and what that means really for Western culture is something I think we haven't paid enough attention to and I certainly hope that our presentations and discussion this morning will yield some practical results and encourage policy that pays a little bit more attention to these issues.

I do believe that if we look at this issue a little more closely we can find another way, a little handle, a little bit of purchase perhaps, on the political process, and so I would like you to keep that thought in the back of your minds as we proceed.

I would like to introduce Arlene Fleming, who really convinced me of all this to begin with, and it is to her credit that we are here this morning. She is going to introduce our first presenter. Thank you.
